Weekly Community Update
Dear RWCS Community,
It was great seeing everyone who could attend our Back-to-School night yesterday evening. We are thrilled to be preparing to start our 25th year! Students will return on Tuesday, August 13th. We will start our “Specials” (Art and Music) this year on the first Friday, August 16th. Also, that first Friday will be the day to dress in 1985 to 1992 fashion or as a dinosaur/RADasaurus. If you haven't completed a Registration Packet yet, please do so before the first day of school! If your student is new to the school, please complete the release of records form. Please send the release of records form back to us ASAP so we can get student records from their previous school, especially if your student is on an IEP or 504 plan, so we have that information at the beginning of the school year. Information can be emailed to Marina, our Office Manager, at office.manager@rwcs.org.
RWCS awarded the Whole Kids Garden Grant!
We are thrilled to announce that Jaclyn Tregle has been awarded the prestigious Whole Kids Garden Grant on behalf of ROOTS & WINGS COMMUNITY SCHOOL! This $3,000 Garden Grant was awarded after a highly competitive selection process, with over 1,200 applications received from across the U.S. and Canada. This grant will support our school's garden program, fostering hands-on learning and a deeper connection to our agricultural heritage. Congratulations, Jaclyn, for your hard work and dedication to our school community!
Friday, August 16th Special Dress Up Day
Here is your chance to show your 1985 to 1992 fashion or dress as a dinosaur/RADasaurus! What’s a RADasaurus? Students will be learning more about this during the first days of school! Ask them!

Registration Packet
You may download the Registration packet by clicking on the link above, or if you prefer it to be mailed, call the school at 575-586-2076 or email office.manager@rwcs.org and provide your mailing address. Please complete all the forms! Even though RWCS does not offer a meal program, please complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Form (information is kept confidential), as we receive additional funding based on this information. If you are new to the school and your student is on an IEP or 504 plan, make sure to complete the release of records form so we can request this information from their previous school. You do NOT need to complete this form if your student has been enrolled in RWCS. We need forms by the first day of school!
Bus Chaperone Coordinator Needed for 24-25 School Year
This is an on-call paid position averaging 4hr/ month for emails, calls, and text messages.
Responsibilities are:
Make sure all school days have a chaperone (there is an online scheduling page for this)
Find a fill-in chaperone if someone calls out
Maintain calendar/schedule so other RWCS staff know who’s chaperoning
Support chaperones with upholding RTD Bus and school behavior policies

Bus Chaperones are NEEDED for 24-25 SY!!
We have just a couple of slots that need to be filled for the first and second weeks. Please help ensure students can ride the bus! We need bus chaperones for the 24-25 school year. The bus will NOT take any students if no adult chaperone is on the bus. Please help keep this free service for our students. We could use help for as much or as little as you can give. You can chaperone on the morning ride to school (7:40 am-10:20 am), the afternoon ride from school (2:00 pm-4:40 pm), or both. It can be a paid position if you can commit to riding regularly. PLEASE contact the school at 575 586-2076 or email Alice Allen at aallen@rwcs.org.

Governing Council Meetings and Recruiting New Members
The Regular GC Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20th, at 5:30 pm. ALL G.C. Meeting Agendas with the Google Meet link are posted on the school website 72 hours before the meeting. All are welcome to attend. We seek new board members to help and serve on the RWCS Governance Council. If interested, please contact Jon Orris, Director, at jorris@rwcs.org.
