Weekly Community Update

Dear RWCS Community,

We have completed our first week of school! It was nice to see and hear all the students back here on the mountain! Today, we did our first dress-up day with a 1985 to 1992 fashion theme or as a dinosaur/RADasaurus. For the first time, we started our Friday Specials this first week, as we usually wait until after the trips. The students participated in art, music, and yoga today and every Friday. The 6th - 8th grade trip will be going out starting Monday!

Ms. Marina (office.manager@rwcs.org) has reached out to families if we are missing any registration paperwork. Please make sure to get that to her ASAP.

Please ensure that if you drive to the school, you enter via the new entrance, which is just uphill (east) from the original entrance/exit (green gates). Parking is in the upper lot. If you are dropping a student off, proceed down the driveway and around the loop as usual.

PLEASE only drop/pick up students at the archway so they do not walk through moving traffic. Exit through the old entrance/exit (green gates), which is a one-way out now. No long-term parking in the loop area. If you need a little more time to pick up or drop off, pull out of the lane and into the area in front of the playground for loading and unloading only. REMINDER: Drop-off starts at 8:40 am; please do not drop off students early as there is no supervision for them. A staff member needs to be there before drop-off can begin. Pickup begins at 3:40 pm and runs through 3:50 pm. If you are running late, please call the school so we know when to expect you.

Trip Dates, Paperwork, and Fees

Class trips are a unique RWCS program component tied to our curriculum and charter.

They are designed to work on group dynamics, character building, personal growth, and outdoor skills. Attending the school requires participating in these trips. Besides personal items, RWCS has all the required gear that students can borrow for the trip.

6th - 8th Grade - August 19th - 23rd. Fees: $100

3rd - 5th Grade - August 27th - 30th. Fees: $80

K - 2nd Grade - September 11th - 13th. Fees: $60

All families should have received a trip packet for the fall; if not, please contact your child's classroom teacher. If trip fees are a financial burden, please contact Marina at office.manager@rwcs.org. Parents requesting financial aid must have submitted their Free and Reduced Lunch form.

Bus Chaperone Coordinator Needed for 24-25 School Year

We have just a couple of slots that need to be filled for the first and second weeks. Please help ensure students can ride the bus! We need bus chaperones for the 24-25 school year. The bus will NOT take any students if no adult chaperone is on the bus. Please help keep this free service for our students. We could use help for as much or as little as you can give. You can chaperone on the morning ride to school (7:40 am-10:20 am), the afternoon ride from school (2:00 pm-4:40 pm), or both. It can be a paid position if you can commit to riding regularly. PLEASE contact the school at 575 586-2076 or email Alice Allen at aallen@rwcs.org.

If you can commit to chaperoning, here is the link to sign up for specific days.
